Rural Umbria is a quiet place with a sense of calm that inspires me. The landscapes and cityscapes feel less like destinations and more like a state of mind. I was drawn to the simplicity of the countryside. The way light rests gently on the land and the structures, how space opens up, and how time feels suspended between one hill and the next.
In this painting, I wanted to capture not just a place, but a feeling of belonging and stillness. Rural Umbria offers a kind of beauty that doesn’t demand attention; it reveals itself gradually, through texture, color, and quiet observation. Living here part of the year has allowed me to see these old buildings as companions, familiar and grounding
