I have heard many people say that art is a universal language, but the more that I study sports through my artwork, I see that sports too is a language without words. Through sports and art, we can express ourselves physically, intellectually, and of course emotionally. For three consecutive weeks these men cycle on their tour and although not much is said in words, very much is communicated to the international audience through their perseverance, dedication, and teamwork. When painting these men in their cycling competition, I don't paint them as individuals with unique characteristics. Instead, they become one expression of connectedness with each other and their audience around the globe.
