Painting fruit on a table is one of the most essential and rudimentary practices I learned in art school. As much as I've always marveled at the simplicity of fruit and painting ordinary objects, I felt that the realistic reproduction of paintings of still lifes drained me of my creativity. After leaving school, I also left behind the spirit of classical and traditional painting techniques. Upon developing my metal cut-out technique I was excited to revisit these classical and romanticized pear paintings in my new approach.
