The backdrop is that of towering skyscrapers, modern architectural lines reaching upwards. This urban landscape can feel overwhelming, but the spirit of the individuals navigating these chaotic streets supersedes the feeling of the omnipotent city. It is these urbanites that I feel inspired to paint. The girl with her headphone on is more significant than the towers that reach the heavens. She is the spirit of the city. Without her, the city is an empty shell devoid of its defining energy.
