3D Metal Wall Sculpture
Bar - Scene S. Paulo
I started the bar series. I was in Brazil having an exhibition. We went out to get a drink at night, and I felt something interesting was happening in how people were gathering near the bar, around the tables – the entire atmosphere.
I like to draw people in different positions, how they relate to each other, how they talk, and how they sit together, stand together, or do things together. This kind of space is where people meet, relax, and communicate. I thought the way they do it very interesting, and I started to make drawings of what I saw: the way they stand, men, women, from the front, from the back, all these elements. I thought it was something worth expressing. I made a series of drawings, and later on, I found it interesting to create a series. I made it with a big emphasis on the drawings because they were the source of this series.
So, the series is based on drawings imposed on a flat background. And altogether, I think that, in a way, it reflects what I felt there one night in San Paulo.
