5th Avenue N

This piece started many years ago when I created 5th Avenue A, which was a reflection of my experience in the densely overcrowded city. Since then my fascination with cities and crowds and the individuals that make them up hasn’t faltered. Instead, it has grown and developed. From the first work titled 5th Avenue A to the twenty that have followed the characters have become more refined. They started as generic, cartoon-like figures, they were humorous and colorful. Over the years I've traveled and photographed hundreds of people across the US, Europe, the Middle East, and China to inspire the individuals who now walk in my 5th Avenue paintings. The variety of people represent more developed characters with personalities and accessories. My 5th Avenue series is an evolution of a world walking.
