This piece started many years ago when I created 5th Avenue A, which reflected my experience in the densely overcrowded city. Since then, my fascination with cities, crowds, and the individuals that make them up hasn’t faltered. Instead, it has grown and developed. The characters have become more refined from the first work, titled 5th Avenue A, to the twenty that have followed. They started as generic, cartoon-like figures; they were humorous and colorful. Over the years, I've traveled to many more major cities, and I have photographed hundreds of people from the US, Europe, the Middle East, and China to inspire the individuals that now walk in my 5th Avenue paintings. The variety of people represents more developed characters with personalities and accessories. My 5th Avenue series is an evolution of a world walking.
